I had a book about him when i was a kid, obviously he was a kid too then and i was totally enamored by him. So glad to see he’s still able to do what he loves.
love this.

So, you painted some beautiful flowers and now, just need a shining jewel upon them—a raindrop. This is so easy and the effect looks so lifelike.
1. Paint your leaf or petal or window pane—background for the water drop.
2. Drop the same color onto the background, making one side darker where the light comes from. Let dry.
3. Add a shadow to the lighter side—away from the light source. Let dry.
4. Lift a highlight in a crescent shape along the shadow. Lift a little irregularly-shaped highlight on the other side of the drop. And viola!

For extra credit, add color to the highlight—whatever is reflected in the drop—maybe a little red from a flower.
“It is wonderful to paint; it makes one happier and more patient. And when finished, fingers are not black like after writing, but red and blue.”

We just had the most wonderful summer thunderstorm. I flung open the door and got all wet trying to paint the roaring, quiet afternoon. Hope you’re enjoying it too! : )
